CreepCakes

Betty Crocker strikes again.  Made with red velvet cake for extra gross-out factor.

I think these are my favorite.  The sprinkles are supposed to be leaf shaped, but I didn’t feel like driving all over town looking for special leaf sprinkles.

And your kid will look like she just slaughtered a wildebeest if you let her lick the bowl…

My Family…Cupcake Style

I learned a lot at cake class tonight.  Dots, balls, the “build up” technique, shells, a couple of different drop flowers, and figure piping.  Aren’t these little faces hilarious?!

I wasn’t really happy with how the above cupcake of Julia looks like a boy, so I started to make this one but then ran out of time:

And here’s a bear:

And some grapes!

Pumpkin Patch Pictures

We made our yearly trip to the pumpkin patch on Monday for FHE.  Bethany had a blast.  It got dark too quickly for us to take pictures with some actual pumpkins though.  We may have to take another trip out there, because we didn’t have time for a hay ride either.  The kids were just having way too much fun with everything else.

Holding hands, as usual!

Bethany couldn’t get enough of these slides.  She went down them over and over and over again, and in almost every possible position, like this one-

The petting zoo was fully equipped with the typical farm animals, plus a zebra and a camel.  Julia liked the sheep the best, in this picture you can see she is getting ready to say “baaaaaa!”:

Picking Apples

Today we ventured to Emmett to pick some apples.  Grandad has a friend that owns the prettiest apple orchard I have ever seen.  We filled up two buckets and one box with Red Delicious and Rome apples and made some memories at the same time.

Pop quiz!  Who can tell me where we are in this picture?

Naughty Baby

What IS it with babies and potted plants?!?

Whenever I’m not paying attention, she sneaks behind the table and flings dirt everywhere.  Little stinker.

First Cake

Ta-Dah!

Wilton cake course 1, class 2 is complete!  Ok, so the cake is a little “busy” in my opinion, but it’s all for the sake of practice.  I am pretty proud of my roses though.  I guess the rose is a pretty difficult thing to master.  The instructor was only trying to teach us step ONE of making the rose, but I ended up making a complete rose-no problem. Nobody else could even figure it out, and I whipped up three roses lickety split!  Toot toot!  Oh sorry, that was just me tooting my own horn.  It accidentally goes off sometimes. Haha.  Anyhoo, I have been dubbed “Rose” by my classmates.  I still have lots to learn though, they are definitely NOT perfect.  I need to adjust my icing…it’s not very smooth.  Anybody have any tips for nice, smooth icing??

The class was a lot of fun and very informative, and I got great use out of all my new cake stuff!
