101 Things about me
1. I am addicted to chapstick.
2. I love flossing my teeth.
3. I never wanted to travel until I became a photographer. Thinking of the pictures I could take all over the world has given me an intense desire to travel.
4. I have never had rice that I didn’t like.
5. I went through a phase in my childhood where I pretended to be a dog. I wore holes in all the knees of my pants from running around on my hands and knees. My mom gave me water in a dish on the floor….and I chased cars.
6. I have been tattooed three times. I regret it very much and hope to have them removed some day.
7. I cannot stand clutter.
8. I have always wanted to be a contestant on Jeopardy!
9. I’ve only had one job. I was there for ten years.
10. I am very afraid of spiders. I have nightmares about them often.
11. I have to cut my fingernails at least once a week. I cannot stand it when they grow out past my nail bed.
12. I love to organize things.
13. I love animals and I have a great compassion for them.
14. I sweat profusely when out of my comfort zone.
15. I am the oldest of eight kids. I have six brothers and one sister. I am 17 years older than my sister.
16. I love European history, but am completely bored with U.S. history.
17. I was an entrepreneur at a very young age. My cousin, Holli, and I used to make things and sell them to the neighbors. The most popular: ‘canned’ dog food. We also made perfume and insect spray. We also tried to construct a flying machine, but that one never quite came to fruition.
18. I love reality TV shows.
19. When I was 25, I cut off 18 inches of hair and donated it to Locks of Love.
20. I love to make lists. Even more than that, I love to cross things off of the lists I make.
21. I am a night owl. I always thought that once I had kids I would go to bed at a decent hour. That hasn’t happened yet. I normally go to bed around midnight.
22. If I could be anything of the nonhuman variety, I’d be a mermaid.
23. I once made a lists similar to this one, titled 101 Things To Do With An Idaho Potato.
24. I am horrible at math. Horrible.
25. I have very strange hair. I would hate for anyone to see me when my hair wasn’t done or covered up.
26. I am not a movie person. I don’t enjoy watching movies. I feel like it’s too much of a time commitment and I catch myself watching the clock, just waiting for the movie to end.
27. My favorite movies are Dirty Dancing and Splash. I could watch them over and over again.
28. I love the color pink.
29. I love getting ridiculously dressed up and wish I had more opportunities to do so.
30. I would love to run a no kill animal shelter some day.
31. I do not like making or returning phone calls.
32. Some day I want to ride a horse as it gallops. *In a perfect world, I would have long flowing hair and a long white skirt and bare feet.
33. I love being pregnant.
34. I hate taking cat naps. They make me feel like cat crap.
35. I have two really good friends that I met online. I talk to them several times a week. I have met one of them in person and I look forward to meeting the other one some day.
36. I have had seven different roommates.
37. Getting the mail every day is something I really look forward to.
38. Holli and I used to play in the local farmers’ irrigation ditches. One year we pulled out all the water dividers in one ditch, which caused an entire corn field to flood. We blamed this on our brothers and they spent the next several days working for the farmer to pay for the damages.
39. I get cold very easily. I cannot stand being cold.
40. My nickname is Deeta. That is what one of my brothers called me when he was learning to pronounce my name.
41. If I could change my name to anything else, I would choose Bernadette.
42. All four of my grandparents are living.
43. I love soda. Especially Coke…..a bad habit of mine.
44. I have a love/hate relationship with roller coasters. I love them, but they really scare me. Six Flags Magic Mountain is one of my favorite places.
45. I have been known to find hair in my food often. I really need to stop looking for it.
46. I almost went to Interior Design school in 2003.
47. I have a very good sense of smell.
48. My favorite TV show of all time is Little House on the Prairie.
49. Coy and I are complete opposites in almost every way.
50. I own five pairs of Crocs. I love them.
51. I used to have horrible allergies. They would get so bad in the spring time that I couldn’t breathe. I did allergy immunotherapy injections for two years and have not had an allergy symptom since.
52. I wish I could sing.
53. My first car was a Peugeot. It had a sunroof and I thought it was just awesome.
54. Both of my kids were due on the 13thday of the month, but they both came on the 12th.
55. I have a very good memory….for very random things.
56. I love chips and salsa.
57. Whenever I go to a new restaurant, the first thing I scan the menu for is a turkey sandwich.
58. I enjoy sewing, but I find it to be one of the most frustrating things on earth.
59. I am a perfectionist.
60. The first concert I ever went to was the New Kids on the Block in 1990. I will be seeing them again, 18 years later, in September.
61. I am a published photographer.
62. I have been to seven of the fifty states.
63. I love looking through store ads, magazines, and catalogs.
64. I would love to have a laundry chute in my next house….don’t ask me why.
65. Coy and I met at work. I give all the credit to my brother, Clint.
66. Coy and I dated for three years before we were married. We were only engaged for three months.
67. I am very competitive.
68. I have thrown up in a public place in front of strangers. At the Miss Idaho pageant in 2001, in the parking lot. I had just had my wisdom teeth pulled, but I really didn’t want to miss the pageant.
69. I have a strange obsession with pageants. I love watching them, but have never had a desire to participate or involve my children in them.
70. When I was 8 or 9 years old, my dog followed me down the lane to the school bus and got on the bus with me. I asked the bus driver to wait for me while I ran the dog home. As I was running home, I tripped over the dog and ripped a hole in my pink corduroy pants and skinned my knee. That was a very bad day.
71. I had very short hair from the time I was in elementary school and all the way through high school.
72. I would love to write a book.
73. I love to make people laugh.
74. I do not like confrontation.
75. I do not make friends easily. I wish I did.
76. I love the smell of coffee, but I do not drink it.
77. I love Starbucks, but not the coffee.
78. One of my favorite meals is green beans on top of white minute rice.
79. I drove a white Porsche 911 my senior year of high school. I got pulled over in it seven times.
80. I love to doodle.
81. I love putting puzzles together.
82. Once I was studying for a college English class with one of the guys from the class. He had ferrets that freely roamed around in his apartment. I was sitting on the floor wearing overalls, when one the ferrets ran up my pant leg and all the way up to my waist. I tried very discreetly to get it out, without making it mad.
83. Tulips are my favorite flower.
84. I played volleyball in high school.
85. I love Michael Bolton, and yes, his music, too.
86. My ideal pizza is topped with olives and bell peppers.
87. I wear one contact lens.
88. My favorite fruit are grapes.
89. I love looking at model homes and floor plans.
90. Some of my greatest childhood memories are from camping trips with my family. We spent two weeks every summer at the same campground, and still do.
91. Hotel beds give me the creeps. I take my own bedding if possible.
92. I have not been on a bicycle in at least 12 years. I don’t know if I’d even remember how to ride one.
93. I cannot function if I don’t make my bed in the morning.
94. I would much rather eat out, than eat at home.
95. I don’t like driving at night, and I don’t like driving long distances, yet after only knowing Coy for two months, I drove all the way to California (during the night) to get him and bring him home.
96. I am particular as to what kind of pen I can write with, and I prefer black ink.
97. I don’t tie shoes the ‘proper’ way, in fact, I don’t even know how to do it the ‘proper’ way.
98. I love wrapping gifts.
99. I have never had seafood.
100. I have been in a mosh pit on more than one occasion.
101. . I always feel special on my birthday. I think birthdays are important and should be made into a big deal!
